We are the other half of the fifth grade students at Tryon Elementary and we just read some of your blogs about your trip. We have lots of questions for you. We are wondering if you are afraid of snakes or other animals that you might see on your journey? We kind of wonder why you don't take a car so you can drive back home for Christmas, but we understand you want to walk and see many things. Why are you only taking one person along? Randy wants to know if he can come along. Just kidding. We will experience your walk in other ways. We are looking forward to hearing about your journey.

Thanks to Tryon Elementary for all your wonderful questions! No, I am not afraid of any animals I may encounter. I have a walking stick and pepper spray just in case though. The trip is about the walk and although I hate to miss Christmas, I'll be with my family in spirit and will be able to speak with them on the phone. I am only taking one person because it is very hard to find people who want to walk and it is hard to work around other people's schedules. Randy is welcome to come and can join us at anytime. Could you keep us updated on the climate of the area you are walking in. One of the things we study in the fifth grade is climates. What type of landforms have you passed so far?
