Winding Down

Monday, January 24, 2011

The celebration at Emerald Isle was quite an occasion. Mayor Schools and others did a great job making the family and me feel welcome. And the snow was a bonus....I think the unofficial tally was 7 inches. The beach was beautiful, and the sunset Saturday evening was brilliant. The children and their families left on Sunday, and Rita and I just hung out. We walked for a while on the beach (I found a sand dollar!), and of course I watched the football games.

This morning we'll pack up and move to another beach house in N. Topsail Beach for a couple more days, before driving to Gastonia to visit friends and family. Then, back to Daleville on the weekend. On Monday, January, 31, 815am, I will be doing a radio interview with Ben Ball on the morning show "Coastal Daybreak", out of Morehead City, NC. The station is "The Talk Station, WTKF-FM, WJNC-AM". Here are a couple of new links:

A video that granddaughter Abby did at her school in Apex, NC. We could never get the video to load on Youtube, so just filmed it off the screen and loaded that way. The quality suffered some, but still you can see it.

An article by Kevin Ellis in the Gaston Gazette.

  6. WOW, Abby's video is great..... such a touching, well-done tribute from a poised, young lady!!

I do have a question for you and would appreciate an answer for possible future purchases. Didn't you use a jog-stroller for the base of your cart? That is another company that should want your endorsement. 2700+ miles and I don't remember you ever mentioning a problem that with the cart. Thanks!

  7. Hi Connie, the stroller is called a "Runabout" and built in Aloha OR. I heard about it from a guy who did a similar walk and used one. I'm including a link to the website:

  9. Hi, Jeff,

How about a picture of you at the Topsail beach house? None of my friends believe me, even when I point them to your blog. They all enjoy the blog though. As others have siad, there might be a book in here somewhere! THere is also a case of water in the fridge. Feel free to rehydrate with that!

    Best regards,

    John

  10. Jeff, your adventure didn't need an exclamation point to being a phenomenal accomplishment, but Abby's video tribute sure provides one! We should all strive to make our Grandkids want to admire our efforts as you've managed to do. We look forward to your return visit to Dana Point, Ca.! The Killebrew's
