Debbie and Drifter

Walking from the Holiday Inn Express in Twentynine Palms to Larry Bowden's guest house, I passed by a woman out working with a horse. I said hello, she replied and I walked on by. I thought to myself how cool it would be to get up on that beautiful horse and have my picture taken.

Everyday while we were resting at Larry's house, I would walk up the street to see if she had the horse saddled and out. Finally on the last day before we were leaving, she was out and getting ready to work the horse. I walked up, gave her a card and introduced myself. Her name was Debbie and she is originally from North Carolina. I asked if she was going to saddle up her horse, and she said she was getting ready to take him for a ride. I asked if she would allow me to get up on the horse, once he was saddled and take my picture. She said he might be a little frisky since he hadn't been ridden in a few days, but once she had ridden him for a while she would come up to Larry's and get me. After a while, Debbie rode up on Drifter. In my excitement to get to Drifter, I ran one leg through a low Catcus and ended up with about 20 thorns in my leg. That didn't stop me though. I was surprised that I could get up in the saddle, but it just seem to come naturally. Debbie took a few pictures of me. We talked for awhile and she told me about Drifter who is a Golden Palmino Quarter Horse. In all my excitement, I didn't get a picture of Debbie on Drifter.
